Agape Missions International was officially founded in the fall of 2015 and incorporated by the Arizona Corporate Commission on September 10, 2015. The organization was created by the late Bolu Makinde (1951 - 2021) and his wife of 39 years Stella Makinde. The couple started the organization to provide humanitarian aide and education for impoverished youth and the general poor residing in their home country of Nigeria. Since 2015 Agape Missions International has helped countless children in Nigeria by working with orphanages, group homes, and churches. Primarily self-funded, Agape Missions International also provides clothing, goods, and financial support to those in need.
The organization also helps provide education for disadvantaged youth by assisting in the payment of school fees, a major point emphasis for Bolu and Stella, who raised 6 children of their own in the United States after immigrating from Nigeria in the mid-80's. In many ways the work of Agape Missions International is an extension of the Makinde's love for education as a means to a better livelihood.
We have begun construction on our very first self owned and operated orphanage, which will allow Agape to house and educate over 30 orphans in Nigeria. The facility will have a classroom, kitchen, dining hall, and beds on site. Additionally, we have expanded operations beyond Nigeria into Cameroon, Philippines, India and the United States.
